Specialized PTSD & Trauma Support Services for Adults

Trauma can feel all-consuming and invisible at the same time. Many people have done important work, including therapy- perhaps even by a trauma-informed therapist, but still feel stuck and unsure what can move the needle.
Trauma-informed care and trauma-focused treatment are not the same thing. Trauma-informed care recognizes how trauma can affect a person. Trauma-focused treatment directly addresses trauma-related symptoms and recovery.
At Bella Health, we specialize in personalized, trauma-focused treatment for adults experiencing PTSD and trauma-related issues. Our approach blends clinical expertise, compassion, and leading evidence-based trauma therapies, including:
  • Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)
  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Exposure Therapies
We understand that the best treatment path is the one that meets you where you are in your healing and helps you move forward. Our expertise across different theraputic approaches allows us to thoughtfully guide treatment, adjust or pivot when needed, and measure progress throughout your care so we can do just that-help you move forward, beyond PTSD and toward meaningful, lasting recovery.
We offer telehealth sessions in California, Massachusetts, and Maine, and in-person appointments in Los Angeles, California.

Understanding Trauma & PTSD

While closely connected, the terms trauma and PTSD are often used interchangeably, but they don't mean the same thing.

Trauma is often understood as an unexpected, overwhelming, confusing, or threatening experience that can impact a person's sense of safety, control, trust, and connection to themselves and others.
While most people will experience a traumatic event during their lifetime, not everyone develops PTSD. Following a trauma, it is common to experience upsetting memories, anxiety, sleep difficulties, feeling on edge, or changes in mood. For many, these reactions gradually improve with time. For others, symptoms persist and can significantly interfere with daily life.
Post-Traumatic Stress Injury (PTSI) / Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) PTSD is the formal diagnostic term, although we often use the term post-traumatic stress injury to reflect the way trauma can affect the mind and body. You are not born with PTSD. Something traumatic happened- to you, to someone you love, and/or to your world. People with PTSD often experience distressing memories, nightmares, strong negative emotions like shame, guilt, or fear, avoidance of trauma reminders, and significant changes in the way they view themselves, others, and the world that persist well beyond the danger itself.
A Quick Note: You don't need to have a PTSD diagnosis to benefit from trauma-focused treatment. These approaches can also be helpful when trauma-related experiences or symptoms continue to affect your life, relationships, or sense of well-being.
